The sound became known online as Chicken on tree screaming, a short TikTok meme clip built around a chicken's exaggerated AUUGHHH cry. It spread through short-form edits where the scream was cut over fails, surprises and dramatic moments, often alongside the distorted phonk sound known as Faaaah. Because the clip is under a second long, it works as an instant reaction rather than a full joke, which has helped it stay in rotation for reaction videos, gaming clips and meme compilations long after its first viral edits.

A chicken in a tree lets out a loud, panicked AUUGHHH scream, the TikTok meme sound used for sudden fails, jumpscares and chaotic phonk edits.
This is a split-second, high-pitched chicken scream that sounds more like a human yell than a farmyard cluck. It starts abruptly, rises into a strained AUUGHHH, and cuts off before the listener can settle, which is exactly why it lands so hard in short videos. The bird is supposedly stuck up a tree, so the panic feels absurd and over-the-top, turning an ordinary animal noise into a punchline. Played at full volume, it shocks, confuses and then makes people laugh, especially when it interrupts something calm, serious or unexpectedly dramatic.
