A chicken jockey has been a rare Minecraft mob for years, formed when a baby zombie spawns riding a chicken. It stayed a niche in-game joke until A Minecraft Movie in 2025, where Steve, played by Jack Black, announces it with over the top excitement during a fight scene. Clips of that line spread fast on TikTok and YouTube Shorts, theatres reported loud audience reactions, and editors began using the shout on its own as a reaction sound far beyond Minecraft videos.

Jack Black shouts 'Chicken jockey' in A Minecraft Movie when a baby zombie rides a chicken, and the clip became a viral meme sound for chaotic entrances.
This is the short, high-energy line delivery of the words chicken jockey, shouted with total excitement as the creature appears on screen. The voice is loud, stretched and slightly manic, turning a rare Minecraft mob into an instant event. In the film the moment is played for surprise, because a tiny zombie riding a chicken looks ridiculous but fights hard. Online the clip works the same way, cutting through a video with pure hype and making an ordinary entrance feel like a boss battle reveal that everyone is meant to react to at once.
