Kongyo is the Japanese name used online for Gonggyeokjeonida, a North Korean military propaganda song performed by state ensembles. Clips of televised performances circulated on Japanese video sites such as Nico Nico Douga, where the powerful choir, formal uniforms and repetitive chant made it instantly recognisable. Editors began reusing the audio for MAD videos and parodies, often speeding up footage or matching cuts to the march. Its fame in Japan grew far beyond its original context, and it remains a familiar meme song for exaggerated attacks, charges and chaotic compilations.
