The song comes from A Minecraft Movie, released in 2025, where Jack Black plays Steve and performs the number during a scene about cooking chicken with lava. Released as part of the film's soundtrack by WaterTower Music, the track quickly travelled beyond cinemas as fans clipped the performance, shared lyric videos and reused the audio in short-form edits. Its simple, memorable hook and cheerful energy made it easy to recognise even without the film, and it remains a popular choice for Minecraft content, cooking jokes and playful celebrations.

Steve's Lava Chicken is Jack Black's catchy song from A Minecraft Movie about chicken cooked in lava. Creators use it in Minecraft memes and gaming edits.
This is the full, upbeat performance of Steve's Lava Chicken, sung by Jack Black as Steve in A Minecraft Movie. Over a bright, driving rock backing, he cheerfully explains how lava can roast a chicken, with a bouncy rhythm, punchy guitar riffs and a chorus that sticks in your head after one listen. His warm, enthusiastic delivery makes the ridiculous idea sound delicious and heroic at the same time. The clip builds like a tiny anthem, so listeners smile, sing along and expect something epic, funny or chaotic to happen next, which is why it works so well as a punchline or celebration in short videos.
