Mario.EXE is a creepypasta-inspired, horror version of Mario that appears in fan-made horror projects, most notably the Mario's Madness community around Friday Night Funkin' mods and fan animations. The laugh captures that corrupted take on a familiar hero, which is why it spread through horror meme edits, gameplay clips, and short-form videos rather than through an official Nintendo game. It remains popular because the sound is instantly recognisable yet unsettling, working like a FNAF jumpscare scream for Mario-themed horror content and signalling to viewers that something sinister is about to happen.

The distorted, menacing laugh of Mario.EXE from a horror fan mod, used in memes and edits to signal a creepy twist or sudden jumpscare moment.
The Mario.EXE laugh is a short, distorted chuckle that sounds like the familiar Mario voice twisted into something sinister, with a hollow, glitched edge that makes it feel wrong from the first note. It lasts just over a second, but the pitch and echo give it a threatening, almost mocking tone, as if the character is enjoying the scare. Hearing it instantly flips a lighthearted Mario reference into horror, creating unease and anticipation for something bad to happen next. That sharp contrast is why creators use it as a punchline for creepy reveals, villain entrances, and sudden plot twists in short videos.
