Shanghai carries two linked meanings in Touhou culture. Team Shanghai Alice is the one-person doujin circle of creator ZUN, responsible for the Touhou Project bullet hell games, while Shanghai is also the name of the doll most closely associated with magician Alice Margatroid. That double reference is why the phrase is instantly recognisable to fans. Short clips using the name circulate on soundboards as compact in-jokes, letting creators signal the fandom in seconds without explaining the reference or playing a full theme.

Shanghai Alice is a short Touhou-inspired sound clip used in anime and gaming edits for a quick, playful reference or reaction moment online.
Shanghai Alice is a brief clip that works as an instant Touhou fandom reference, bringing a whimsical anime game energy in just a few seconds. The sound is short and punchy rather than a full track, so it lands like a name drop or in-joke for viewers who recognise the connection. For everyone else it still reads as a light, playful cue that can mark a reveal, a character moment or a sudden change of mood. Its brevity makes it easy to drop in without overwhelming dialogue or music underneath.
