Among Us is a social deduction game developed by Innersloth and released in 2018, where crewmates complete tasks while impostors secretly eliminate them. One of the impostor kill animations shows the victim's neck being snapped, paired with this sharp cracking sound. The game exploded in popularity in 2020 through Twitch streamers and TikTok clips, and its kill sounds became widely recognised meme audio. Creators still use the neck snap today because it instantly reads as a stealthy, ruthless elimination without needing any game footage.
Über diesen Sound
The Among Us neck snap sound effect, a sharp crack from Innersloth's game when the impostor kills a crewmate. Used in memes and edits for sudden betrayals.
This is the sharp neck snap heard in Among Us when the impostor eliminates a crewmate, a short dry crack followed by a dull thud as the body drops. Lasting just over four seconds, it is clean and punchy with no dialogue or music, which makes it easy to drop into edits. The sound instantly signals a sneaky kill and a sudden shift in power, giving viewers a jolt of dark comic shock. Because almost everyone recognises it from the game, it works as shorthand for betrayal, catching someone off guard or cutting a rival down without a word.
