Boombayah was released in 2016 as one of BLACKPINK's two debut singles on the Square One single album. Its title echoes the sound of a booming celebration, and the track mixes EDM, hip hop and dance pop with a festival-style drop. The song helped introduce the group's bold performance image and became a staple for fan edits, stage covers and short hype clips. Years after release, the chant remains closely associated with BLACKPINK's early era and is still recognised by K-pop audiences worldwide from just a few seconds.
