The sound is associated with Brazilian television presenter José Luiz Datena, whose blunt on-air style made short clips of his reactions widely shareable in Brazil. The phrase 'é um babaca' spread through WhatsApp groups, TikTok edits and meme pages, where Portuguese-speaking users reused it as a ready-made insult for foolish behaviour. Because the word is short, instantly understood and delivered with strong emotion, the clip has stayed in circulation long after its original broadcast moment, especially in Brazilian reaction and comedy edits.
Über diesen Sound
A short clip of Brazilian presenter Datena calling someone a babaca, used as a blunt reaction sound in memes and videos mocking rude or annoying behaviour.
The clip is a loud, indignant voice calling someone a babaca, delivered with the exasperated emphasis of a television presenter who has lost patience. The word lands hard and almost comically, so the insult feels more like a punchline than a genuine attack, especially to Brazilian listeners who recognise the slang. Played over a video, it instantly frames the person on screen as foolish, arrogant or completely out of line, and the blunt delivery makes the judgement feel final. That mix of aggression and humour is why it works as a reaction, turning a small mistake or an overconfident statement into a moment the audience laughs at.
