Elmo is the small red puppet from Sesame Street, and his high, excitable voice has made short clips of him a staple of meme soundboards. This flying scream fits that tradition because it is instantly recognisable even without any picture, carrying panic and silliness in a single drawn-out note. Meme creators reuse it for launches, falls and surprise knockbacks, where a familiar children's character voice makes the gag feel harmless and absurd. Its brevity also helps, since the whole joke lands in under four seconds and can be dropped into almost any short video.

Elmo lets out a long, rising waaaaah as he is sent flying, a short Sesame Street style scream clip creators use for cartoon falls, launches and wipeouts.
This is a short, high-pitched scream from Elmo that stretches out into a long, wobbling waaaaah as he is launched through the air. It starts suddenly, climbs in panic, and holds just long enough to sell the feeling of being flung off-screen before it cuts out. The voice is unmistakably childlike and cartoonish, which makes the fall feel silly rather than scary, and the drawn-out vowel gives editors a perfect beat to match with a character tumbling, spinning, or disappearing out of frame. It lands as pure slapstick, turning a simple throw or trip into a moment viewers instantly recognise as a joke.
