The clip comes from Gothic 2, the 2002 action role playing game by German developer Piranha Bytes, where the player controls the nameless hero. Short, oddly specific NPC lines from the Gothic series became quotable in the German speaking community, and this sausage advice stood out for its deadpan delivery. It spread through forums, YouTube edits and soundboards as an inside joke among fans, long after the original scene was just a throwaway interaction. It is still used today because non German speakers also recognise the rhythm and tone instantly.
Über diesen Sound
Iss eine Wurst Bruder is a short German voice line from Gothic 2 where an NPC tells the hero to eat a sausage, used as a funny meme reply online.
This is a brief German voice clip from Gothic 2 in which a character bluntly tells the nameless hero, Iss eine Wurst Bruder, literally eat a sausage brother. The line is delivered in a flat, matter of fact tone that makes the random food advice feel oddly authoritative. There is no music or buildup, just the dry delivery landing instantly. That contrast is what makes it funny, because it sounds like serious quest dialogue but the advice is completely trivial, turning an ordinary RPG interaction into an absurd, quotable moment that sticks in the listener's head.
