POP/STARS was released in 2018 as the debut single for K/DA, a virtual K-pop group created by Riot Games for League of Legends. The group features champions Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai'Sa, voiced by Madison Beer, Jaira Burns and members of (G)I-dle. The song premiered during the League of Legends World Championship and its animated music video spread widely online. It remains popular for gaming edits and fan content because the track became closely associated with the champions, their skins and the game's crossover with pop music.
