Mike Wazowski is the green, one-eyed monster from Pixar's Monsters, Inc., first released in 2001 and voiced by Billy Crystal. As the film's fast-talking, easily flustered assistant, his panicked reactions became one of his most recognisable traits. Short clips of his scream later circulated online as a reaction sound, appearing in TikTok edits, YouTube videos and gaming montages whenever a creator wanted an instant moment of comic panic. Its brevity and instantly familiar voice have kept it in regular use long after the film's release.

Mike Wazowski's panicked scream from Monsters, Inc. is a short, high-pitched shout used in memes and edits for sudden scares, fails and over-the-top reactions.
This is the short, frantic scream of Mike Wazowski, the small green one-eyed monster from Monsters, Inc., delivered in a high, strained voice that rises and cuts off abruptly. It sounds panicked rather than angry, like a character who has just been startled, caught off guard or pushed past his limit. Because the clip is barely over a second long, it lands as an instant punchline, making a normal moment feel suddenly chaotic. Viewers recognise the voice immediately, which is why the scream works even without any picture, turning surprise, embarrassment or disaster into something funny and shareable.
