The line comes from the Evil Heckler, a Taunt minion released with Hearthstone The Grand Tournament expansion in 2015 for Blizzard's digital card game set in the Warcraft universe. His lines were written as crowd heckles aimed at opposing heroes, leaning on familiar Warcraft insults. Clips of the voice line later circulated on soundboards and in meme edits alongside other Warcraft staples like Leeroy Jenkins, because the murloc insult is specific enough to be funny yet generic enough to drop into almost any argument or gaming clip.

The Evil Heckler voice line from Hearthstone The Grand Tournament saying your mother was a murloc, used for playful insults and gaming memes.
This is the attack voice line of the Evil Heckler from Hearthstone, delivered in a loud, jeering shout as he yells that your mother was a murloc. The insult lands because murlocs are slimy, gurgling fish creatures in Warcraft, so the line is both absurd and oddly cutting for a card game taunt. The voice is brash, theatrical and deliberately rude, like a heckler in a tournament crowd who wants a reaction. Played on its own it instantly turns a normal moment into a silly roast, which is why it works so well out of context.
