The sound comes from Ice Cube's 1992 single It Was a Good Day, from the album The Predator, built around a sample of the Isley Brothers' Footsteps in the Dark. Its refrain became one of hip hop's most quoted lines for contentment, later spreading through sports highlights, gaming edits and social media as shorthand for a day with no setbacks. The today was good day meme version keeps circulating because the phrase works for genuine celebration and deadpan irony alike.

Today Was a Good Day is a short music meme clip from the Ice Cube song, used in edits to celebrate a win, a lucky moment or an unexpectedly perfect day.
This clip captures the laid-back hook from Ice Cube's classic track, built around the simple line that today was a good day. The delivery is calm, satisfied and instantly recognisable, with a smooth West Coast groove underneath that makes even small wins feel cinematic. Creators use it as a payoff, letting the relaxed vocal land after a streak of good luck, an easy victory or a day where everything finally goes right. It works just as well sincerely as it does ironically when the day was anything but good.
