With no confirmed source attached to this upload, the clip has spread purely as a reusable reaction line rather than as a quote tied to a specific show or creator. Its appeal is the universality of the phrase, which fits almost any situation where an answer is missing, from group chats and comment threads to short edited videos. At around thirteen seconds it is longer than a quick sting, giving editors room to let the awkward moment breathe before the line drops, which helped it stay in rotation as a low key shrug sound.
Über diesen Sound
A short voice clip of a person saying wish I knew in a flat, resigned tone, used as a reaction when someone has no answer or no clue what to say.
The sound is a brief spoken line delivered in a tired, matter of fact way, with the words wish I knew stretched just enough to sound both honest and defeated. There is no music or extra noise behind it, just the plain voice and a short pause that makes the shrug in the delivery land harder. Viewers hear it as an instant admission of not knowing, which is why it works so well as a punchline to a confusing question, a failed guess, or a moment where any real explanation would fall flat.
