Sobre este sonido

A short Dragon Quest theme by Koichi Sugiyama, 'A New Companion' plays when a new ally joins, and creators use it for introductions and team-up reveals.

A New Companion is a short, bright orchestral fanfare from Dragon Quest, composed by Koichi Sugiyama. Strings and brass rise in a warm, hopeful swell, with a clear melody that feels like a door opening rather than a battle starting. In just five seconds it signals arrival, friendship and a party getting stronger, which is why the clip lands so cleanly over a reveal. It sounds nostalgic for longtime players, yet welcoming to newcomers, turning a simple introduction into a small celebration and giving the moment a sense of adventure ahead.

Consejo profesional

Drop it on the exact frame a new character or teammate appears, then let it ring out before any dialogue starts. Pair it with a slow zoom or title card, and avoid looping it, since the short fanfare loses its welcoming impact when repeated.

Short excerpts have since travelled beyond gameplay into edits, streams and reaction videos, where a few seconds are enough to signal a new arrival. Its brevity, warmth and instantly recognisable Dragon Quest character keep it useful long after players first heard it.
