Matt Berry sings 'Yankee Doodle' in his booming baritone, a clip fans link to What We Do in the Shadows. Ideal for pompous entrances and ironic patriotic gags.

This short clip captures Matt Berry performing the folk tune 'Yankee Doodle' in the full force of his famously theatrical voice. Every syllable lands with exaggerated diction, rolling vowels and a mock-heroic confidence that turns a simple nursery melody into a miniature stage performance. The delivery is equal parts pompous and playful, as if a self-important 18th-century dandy wandered into a recording booth. Hearing it, viewers tend to laugh at the sheer commitment: the grandeur of the voice wildly outscales the silliness of the song, which is exactly why it lands so well as a punchline.

Consejo profesional

Drop it the instant someone strikes a heroic pose or a caption makes an inflated claim, then hard-cut it when the pose breaks. Pair it with a slow zoom; never play it under dialogue, since Berry's diction is the joke and needs room to breathe.
