Tung Tung Tung Sahur emerged in Indonesia in early 2025 as part of the Italian brainrot wave on TikTok, drawing on the tradition of drumming to wake people for sahur, the pre-dawn meal during Ramadan. The character is an anthropomorphic wooden log carrying a baseball bat, and short clips pairing its chant with absurd edits spread quickly through remixes, fan art and reaction videos. Its simple rhythm, strange voice and memorable name helped it travel beyond Indonesia, and it remains a popular shorthand for surreal, low-effort humor in short-form video.
Sobre este sonido
The viral Tung Tung Tung Sahur sound, a rhythmic knocking chant from the Indonesian TikTok meme, used in funny edits, brainrot videos and reaction clips.
Tung Tung Tung Sahur is a short, hypnotic chant built around a deep, hollow knocking sound, repeated in a steady rhythm like someone tapping on wood before dawn. A low, playful voice repeats the phrase over the beat, giving it the feel of a wake-up call mixed with a joke. It sounds simple and slightly absurd, which is exactly why it sticks in your head after one listen. In videos it creates an instant sense of recognition and silliness, turning an ordinary scene into a brainrot moment, especially when the wooden log character appears or the beat drops in time with a sudden reveal.
