Zhi yin comes from a Chinese internet meme built around the phrase zhi yin ni tai mei, a homophone that listeners turned into a playful chicken joke linked to singer Cai Xukun and his basketball performance. Shared widely on short-video platforms, the two opening syllables became a shorthand for the whole reference, so creators could trigger the joke without playing the full line. Its brevity and instant recognisability keep it useful as a fast in-joke in edits, reactions and dance clips.

The short zhi yin vocal clip from the viral Chinese Cai Xukun meme, used as a quick punchline in basketball, chicken and dance edits on TikTok and short videos.
This is a very short, clipped vocal snippet saying the two Mandarin syllables zhi yin, delivered in a bright, slightly playful singing tone that stops almost as soon as it starts. At under half a second long, it works less as a phrase and more as a recognisable audio cue, instantly signalling the joke to viewers who know the meme. Dropped into an edit, it creates a sudden, knowing pause before a reveal, a fail or a dance move, turning an ordinary moment into a reference that feels shared, cheeky and deliberately over-the-top.
