Google Hangouts launched in 2013 as Google's messaging and video calling platform, replacing Google Talk, and its incoming call tone became a daily sound for Android and desktop users. As Hangouts was phased out in favour of Google Meet and Chat in the early 2020s, the ringtone survived online as a nostalgia cue and meme interruption. Creators now use it alongside a discord call or a Discord Notification to fake group calls, exaggerate online conversations, and signal that someone is about to join the chat.
À propos de ce son
The classic Google Hangouts incoming call ringtone, a bright repeating chime used for video calls, now popular in edits as a fake call or notification sound.
This is the familiar incoming call melody from Google Hangouts, built from soft electronic tones that loop in a gentle rising pattern. It sounds clean, friendly and instantly recognisable to anyone who used Hangouts for video chats or messaging on Android and desktop. Unlike an aggressive phone ring, it feels calm and digital, which is why it works so well as a comedic interruption. Dropping it into a quiet scene makes viewers expect a call, a reveal or an awkward pause, even when no phone is actually ringing on screen.
