Dream, a Minecraft creator known for manhunt videos, released Mask as a standalone single in May 2021, following his debut song Roadtrip. The track reached wide attention on YouTube and streaming platforms, where its animated music video and personal lyrics sparked discussion, covers and parodies. Lines from the chorus became widely quoted and remixed online, turning parts of the song into a meme among both fans and critics. It remains used in edits because the hook is short, melodic and immediately tied to Dream.

Clip from Dream's 2021 song Mask, the Minecraft creator's pop track about hiding behind a persona, often used in edits, memes and fan videos.
This is an excerpt from Mask, the song released by Minecraft creator Dream, built around a bright pop arrangement and a confessional vocal about anxiety and feeling forced to smile in public. The singer describes wearing a metaphorical mask to hide insecurity, repeating the hook as the melody stays upbeat against the heavier lyric. That contrast is what listeners remember most, a catchy chorus carrying a vulnerable message, and it makes the clip instantly recognisable to fans of Dream's music and Minecraft community who associate it with his early music era.
