Ghostface is the masked killer at the centre of the Scream film series, which began with Wes Craven's Scream in 1996. The character's white mask, black robe and distorted phone voice quickly became shorthand for modern slasher horror, and later films, parodies and Halloween costumes kept the image in circulation. Online, short Ghostface voice clips are widely shared as prank sounds, reaction audio and horror-edit inserts, because the character is instantly recognisable even in a few seconds. That familiarity is why the clip still works for new audiences.
