The Happy Mask Salesman is a travelling mask merchant in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. He lends Link his first transforming mask and reappears throughout the game with a polite manner that never quite hides something stranger underneath, and his sudden, eerie laugh became one of his most recognisable traits. Clips of the laugh later spread through Zelda fan videos, creepypasta-style edits and short-form memes, where creators reuse it as shorthand for a character who knows more than they are saying.

The eerie laugh of the Happy Mask Salesman from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, used in edits for creepy reveals, unsettling moments and horror memes.
This short clip captures the Happy Mask Salesman's distinctive, high-pitched laugh, a sound that starts almost playful before turning strangely hollow and menacing. The chuckle is brief and sharp, with a wheezing, unsettling edge that makes it feel wrong in a way a normal laugh never does. In videos it works as an instant mood shift, signalling that something creepy, deceptive or about to go wrong is just around the corner. Played on its own it is enough to make a viewer pause, and layered over a reveal it turns a simple edit into something genuinely unnerving.
