The line comes from the real Apollo 13 mission in 1970, when astronaut Jack Swigert reported a serious fault with the words Houston, we've had a problem. The 1995 film Apollo 13, starring Tom Hanks as commander Jim Lovell, changed the wording slightly to Houston, we have a problem, and that version became the one everyone remembers. It later spread through television clips, reaction videos and short-form edits, where its calm delivery made it ideal for marking everyday mishaps, and it remains a shorthand for trouble.
