The clip comes from Zelyony Slonik, known in English as The Green Elephant, a 1999 Russian underground film directed by Svetlana Baskova and starring Vladimir Epifantsev as one of two officers confined in a guardhouse cell. The low-budget film later gained a huge cult following online in Russia, where its extreme scenes and shouted lines were cut into short clips and remixes. Epifantsev's prolonged scream became one of its most shared sounds, reused far beyond the film as a shorthand for unhinged anger and breakdowns.

The Epifantsev scream from the Russian cult film The Green Elephant, a raw prolonged yell used in memes for shock, rage and absurd meltdowns.
This is a long, strained human scream performed by Vladimir Epifantsev, lasting over fifteen seconds and rising in desperation as it goes. The voice cracks, echoes and pushes to an uncomfortable extreme, which is exactly why it stands out from shorter reaction yells. Listeners do not hear a clean movie line so much as pure panic and fury building without release. Placed over an ordinary scene, it instantly turns frustration into something grotesque and funny, because the intensity is far larger than whatever caused it.
