Lefty is the quiet animatronic bear introduced in Five Nights at Freddy's: Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator in 2017, later returning in Ultimate Custom Night. Unlike louder characters, Lefty is defined by whispered lines and long silences, so short shush clips became easy to lift for soundboards and edits. Fans pair the sound with the FNAF jumpscare scream or use it alone as a softer scare, and it keeps circulating because that contrast between quiet and sudden horror fits horror memes, streams and short videos perfectly.

Lefty shush sound effect from Five Nights at Freddy's, a quiet animatronic shhh used for creepy jumpscare edits, reaction videos and FNAF memes.
The Lefty shush is a short, hushed shhh lasting just over two seconds, delivered in a low, breathy tone that feels close and unsettling. It cuts through silence rather than filling it, which makes the moment after it land harder. Instead of a loud scream, the quiet warning creates instant tension, as if something dangerous is nearby and speaking would make it worse. Creators use that contrast to turn an ordinary scene creepy in a second, or to play the shush for comedy when someone is being far too loud or dramatic.
