Mars Attacks is Tim Burton's 1996 science-fiction comedy about Martians invading Earth, based on the Topps trading card series of the same name. The Martians speak in a distinctive high-pitched warble, with their translators turning their threats into polite phrases like we came in peace, a joke that became one of the film's most quoted moments. Clips of their chatter spread through soundboards and meme edits long after release, because the voices are instantly recognisable even without the picture, and they turn any invasion, surprise visit or weird moment into a joke.

The squeaky alien voices from Tim Burton's Mars Attacks, saying we came in peace, perfect for comedy edits, alien invasion jokes and reaction memes.
This clip captures the Martians from Mars Attacks in full chatter mode, a rapid burst of high-pitched, squeaky, almost cartoonish alien speech that sounds like a sped-up language no one can understand, punctuated by the deadpan English line we came in peace. The contrast between the cute, warbling voices and the threat behind them is what makes it land, turning a scene of invasion into something absurd and funny rather than scary. Played over a video, it instantly signals that something strange, mischievous and otherworldly is arriving, and viewers recognise the joke before the aliens even do anything.
