Kenshi first appeared in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance in 2002 as a blind swordsman with telekinetic powers, hunting the sorcerer Shang Tsung who blinded him. He returned as downloadable content for Mortal Kombat in 2011, often called MK9, the reboot developed by NetherRealm Studios. Clips of fighters screaming during stage falls and brutal knockbacks were later ripped and shared on soundboards, where Kenshi's version stood out for its length and desperation. It survives as a go to fall and fail effect for fans editing fights and falls.

Kenshi's falling scream from Mortal Kombat 9, a sharp male yell as the blind swordsman drops. Used for gaming fails, falls and dramatic reaction edits.
This is Kenshi's fall scream from Mortal Kombat 9, the long pained yell heard when the blind swordsman is knocked off a stage or sent dropping through the air. It starts high and strained, then stretches out as he falls, full of panic and pain rather than a tough fighter's shout. The desperation makes it instantly funny out of context, because such a skilled and serious warrior suddenly sounds completely helpless. Creators lift that contrast for edits where someone plummets, fails badly, or reacts in over the top terror to a small disaster.
