Wubba Lubba Dub Dub is Rick Sanchez's signature catchphrase from Rick and Morty, the Adult Swim animated series that premiered in 2013. In the show's lore, Rick's bird-like friend Birdperson once revealed the phrase translates in his language to a cry of pain, giving the goofy catchphrase a surprisingly dark undertone. The line spread quickly beyond the show into memes, remixes, ringtones and fan edits, and became one of the most quoted bits of dialogue in the fandom. Fans also drop it over sad or defeated moments as ironic comic relief.
