Hawk Tuah exploded in June 2024 after a Nashville street interview clip of Hailey Welch went viral on TikTok and Instagram, with viewers repeating her answer and turning it into remixes, merchandise and a podcast persona. The phrase quickly became shorthand for bold, flirtatious confidence online, even as Welch herself became known as the Hawk Tuah Girl. Its short length and instantly recognisable delivery keep it useful in reaction videos and edits, where a single line can signal that a moment is cheeky, overconfident or deliberately absurd.

This short clip captures Hailey Welch, the woman behind the Hawk Tuah meme, answering a street interview question about what makes a man go crazy in bed with a breathy, playful hawk tuah sound followed by the phrase spit on that thang. Her delivery is confident, cheeky and instantly quotable, with a sharp onomatopoeic spit sound that lands like a punchline. Heard on its own, it feels spontaneous and a little outrageous, which is exactly why it stops viewers mid-scroll and makes them laugh, repeat it and share it with friends who already know the joke.
