Action News is the long-running local news format of WPVI, channel 6 in Philadelphia, an ABC affiliate known for its fast-paced reporting style and distinctive opening sequence. Clips of its theme circulate online detached from the broadcast, where the familiar fanfare works as shorthand for urgent local television. Creators reuse it in memes and edits whenever a trivial moment needs the weight of a newsroom alert, and the Philadelphia connection keeps it recognisable to viewers who grew up with the station's broadcasts.

The ABC 6 Action News theme from Philadelphia, a bold orchestral intro used for television parodies, breaking reports and dramatic everyday announcements.
This is the opening theme for ABC 6 Action News in Philadelphia, built around urgent brass, driving percussion and sweeping strings that announce something important is happening. The music rises quickly, hits a confident fanfare and settles into a serious, authoritative pulse typical of American local news broadcasts. Played on its own, it instantly turns an ordinary clip into a breaking report, which is why editors use it to lend fake gravity to small announcements, pet antics, weather jokes and everyday mishaps presented as major events.
