Hotel Cæsar was a Norwegian television soap opera that ran on TV 2 from 1998 to 2017, centred on the Anker-Hansen family and their hotel in Oslo. Astrid Anker-Hansen was one of its long-standing central figures, and the Norwegian word vræl means a loud wail or scream. Short dramatic outbursts from the series later circulated online as isolated reaction clips, where the language barrier matters less than the emotion, and this scream survives because viewers instantly read it as pure melodrama.
