The sound comes from Christopher Nolan's 2010 film Inception, with music by Hans Zimmer. A slowed version of Edith Piaf's song was stretched into the deep brass motif heard throughout the trailers, which were cut by composer Mike Zarin. Those trailers made the braaam a template for blockbuster marketing in the early 2010s, and it was copied across action films for years. Online it escaped the cinema and became shorthand in edits and parodies for any moment presented as mind bending, oversized or impossibly serious.
