Peanut Butter Jelly Time began as a song by the Buckwheat Boyz and became an early internet meme in 2002 through a Flash animation featuring a dancing banana with maracas. The joke spread across forums and early video sites because the animation was short, loopable, and absurd. It was later referenced on Family Guy, where Brian performs the song in a banana costume to cheer up Peter, introducing the meme to a much wider television audience and keeping the clip in meme edits today.
