Ievan Polkka is a traditional Finnish folk song dating to the 1920s, later popularised worldwide in many covers. In 2020 a street performance by Bilal Goregen, a blind Turkish musician playing darbuka and singing the tune, went viral after an editor added a white cat bobbing its head in perfect time. The pairing spread rapidly across YouTube and TikTok as the Vibing Cat meme, spawning thousands of edits with other animals and characters dancing to the same relentless, cheerful rhythm.

The viral cat vibing sound of Bilal Goregen drumming and singing Ievan Polkka, remixed with mouth sounds and used for looping happy reaction memes.
This is the infectious Ievan Polkka performance that turned Bilal Goregen and a white cat into a looping meme, here remixed with added mouth percussion. The blind Turkish drummer bangs a darbuka style rhythm while scat singing the Finnish folk tune in fast, bouncy syllables that feel happy even without understanding the words. The beat is steady and hypnotic, made for head bobbing in time. Paired with the vibing cat it creates pure, simple joy, the kind of clip that makes viewers smile, tap along and replay it without thinking.
