The Illuminati confirmed format grew out of internet meme culture, where creators jokingly treated triangles, coincidences, and everyday patterns as proof of a secret society. Short reaction edits and compilation videos helped the joke spread, because the formula was easy to reuse: show something ordinary, then deliver the reveal with maximum seriousness. Like To be Continued, it works best as a punchline ending, and it remains popular because conspiracy jokes are instantly recognisable, require no explanation, and turn a small observation into a shareable moment.

The 'Damn son, Illuminati confirmed' meme sound pairs a voice line with a dramatic sting, used in videos to jokingly expose a hidden conspiracy.
The clip opens with a laid-back male voice delivering the line 'Damn son' before building into the familiar Illuminati confirmed punchline, layered over a swelling, conspiratorial musical sting that makes an ordinary moment feel suddenly suspicious. The delivery is playful rather than serious, with a rising sense of mock revelation that invites the listener to laugh at the absurd connection being drawn. Used over a surprising coincidence, a hidden detail, or an over-the-top theory, it instantly frames the reveal as a joke, turning a small discovery into a dramatic conspiracy moment that feels both knowing and ridiculous.
