Double Life was written and performed by Pharrell Williams for Despicable Me 4, released in 2024 as part of his long running work on the franchise's music. The song plays on Gru's history as a villain turned family man and Anti Villain League agent. Its official lyric video helped the chorus circulate beyond the film, and the short hook was clipped for soundboards and edits. Fans keep using it because the melody is bright, the lyric is easy to quote, and it instantly signals a playful secret identity theme.

Pharrell Williams' Double Life from Despicable Me 4, a funky pop hook used in edits, Gru memes and upbeat movie fan videos online across TikTok and Reels.
This clip is the catchy chorus section from Double Life, Pharrell Williams' original song for Despicable Me 4. Built on a bouncy bassline, tight drums and Pharrell's smooth falsetto, it repeats the double life hook that mirrors Gru's secret past. The 19 second excerpt feels light, sly and instantly recognisable, even without the full track. Played over a reveal or a character leading two different lives, it adds a playful, knowing wink rather than heavy drama, which is why editors reach for it in short meme edits and fan made lyric videos.
