The clip comes from Adventure Time, the Cartoon Network series created by Pendleton Ward that began in 2010 and followed Finn and Jake through the Land of Ooo. Its humour often mixed childlike adventure with unexpectedly blunt dialogue, and short out of context lines from the show became popular as reaction sounds online. This horse line spread in that form, shared as a standalone soundboard clip rather than for its original scene. It remains used because the proposal is so extreme and casual that it works for almost any annoying obstacle.

A 16 second Adventure Time voice clip with the line dude lets kill the horse, used as a darkly funny absurd reaction in edits and meme videos.
This sixteen second clip captures a blunt Adventure Time moment built entirely around one shocking suggestion delivered like a casual plan. The line dude lets kill the horse lands flat and matter of fact, which is exactly why it feels so funny out of context. There is no buildup or dramatic music to soften it, just the sudden turn from friendly adventure talk to an absurdly dark idea about a horse. Heard alone, it sounds like a non sequitur, and that mismatch between the cheerful cartoon tone and the harsh proposal makes viewers pause, rewind and laugh.
