Mumm-Ra is the main villain of ThunderCats, the animated series that first aired in 1985, where he rules from his Black Pyramid as a decaying mummy who can transform into a powerful, ever-living warrior by calling on the Ancient Spirits of Evil. The transformation became one of the show's most recognisable rituals, repeated in almost every episode and later shared widely in clips, memes and soundboards. It remains popular because the chant, the shift in voice and the sudden gain in power make it an instant shorthand for a villainous power-up.
