Nightmare Fredbear is a nightmarish version of Fredbear from the Five Nights at Freddy's series, appearing as a major threat in Ultimate Custom Night, the 2018 custom-night compilation that lets players build their own animatronic challenges. His laugh is one of the audio cues players learn to fear, signalling that he is active and about to strike. As FNAF gameplay clips and horror edits spread on YouTube and TikTok, the laugh became a shorthand for impending danger, much like the related FNAF jumpscare scream, and it remains popular because it instantly sets a creepy tone.

Nightmare Fredbear's laugh from Five Nights at Freddy's: Ultimate Custom Night, used for jumpscare reveals, horror edits and tense gaming moments.
The clip captures Nightmare Fredbear's deep, distorted laugh echoing through the darkness of Ultimate Custom Night, a short burst of menacing chuckling that rises and falls with an unsettling, almost mechanical edge. It is not a cheerful laugh but a taunting one, low and guttural, as if the animatronic is enjoying the player's panic just before an attack. Hearing it instantly raises tension, signalling that something dangerous is close and that safety has run out. In edits, it works as a warning, a reveal, or a punchline for horror, turning an ordinary moment into something suddenly threatening.
