Once Upon a Time was an ABC fantasy drama that premiered in 2011 and ran until 2018, following fairy-tale characters living in the modern town of Storybrooke. Its opening music became closely associated with the show's storybook framing, with each episode beginning in a world where classic tales and real life overlapped. As clips and edits spread on video platforms and soundboards, the short intro was reused on its own as a shorthand for magic, destiny and a tale about to begin, keeping it familiar to viewers long after the series ended.

The opening intro from ABC's Once Upon a Time, a sweeping orchestral swell with a storybook feel. Used for fairytale edits and fantasy reveals.
This is the short opening music from Once Upon a Time, the ABC fantasy drama that retold classic fairy tales in a modern town. It begins softly and builds into a sweeping, cinematic orchestral swell, with strings and a gentle, magical lift that feels like a storybook opening. The sound instantly sets a mood of wonder, nostalgia and make-believe, making a scene feel larger and more enchanted than everyday footage. Even without dialogue, listeners recognise the fairytale tone at once, which is why it works so well as a dramatic lead-in before a reveal, transformation or dreamlike moment.
