Pete un coup is French slang that literally invites someone to let one rip, and its humour comes from saying something rude in a casual, almost innocent way. Online, the phrase circulates as a short comedy sound for memes, reaction videos and prank edits, where the joke is less about the words themselves than the timing and the reaction they provoke. Because it is short, recognisable to French speakers and easy to understand from context, it keeps appearing in short-form videos, group chats and soundboards as a quick, low-effort gag.

The clip is a short, cheeky French joke built around the phrase pete un coup, a slang way of telling someone to let one rip. It is delivered with playful, exaggerated timing, so it lands as a crude but light-hearted punchline rather than a serious insult. The sound is quick and punchy, easy to drop at the exact moment a joke needs a silly payoff, and its mix of French slang and toilet humour gives it a mischievous, playground energy. Listeners usually react with a laugh or a groan, which is exactly why it works so well as a reaction sound in short videos.
