R.B.I. Baseball launched for the NES in North America in 1988, adapted from Namco's Family Stadium series in Japan, and became one of the first console baseball games licensed by the Major League Baseball Players Association. Its short transitional cues, including the switch-sides jingle, were designed to keep games moving quickly between half-innings. Decades later the clip resurfaced on soundboards and in retro gaming videos, where creators reuse the familiar 8-bit sting to mark a change of turn, a scene swap, or a nostalgic sports moment.
