The clip comes from Rick and Morty, the Adult Swim animated series built around Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty, and it is tied to an Adult Swim UK short centred on eggs. Shared as a brief reaction sound on soundboard sites, it spread because the warning is instantly recognisable even out of context and fits almost any moment when someone is about to touch something unpleasant. Its brevity and the show's large meme audience keep it in circulation for reaction videos, edits and prank clips.

Rick warns Morty not to touch a wet egg in this short Adult Swim clip, perfect for reaction videos and memes about forbidden or gross objects.
This very short clip captures Rick's sharp, exasperated warning as he stops Morty from touching something he should leave alone, in this case a wet egg. Delivered in Rick's familiar frantic, slightly slurred voice, the line lands fast and urgent, with a comedic edge that makes the danger feel both gross and ridiculous. Because it is only just over a second long, it works as a punchy interruption rather than a full scene, instantly signalling panic, disgust or a bad idea in progress. Listeners recognise the tone immediately, even without seeing the animation, which is why it plays so well as a quick reaction sound.
