Sharko is one of the main characters in Zig & Sharko, the French animated comedy series that first aired in 2010. In the show he is a muscular shark who spends most episodes protecting the mermaid Marina from Zig, a hungry hyena constantly trying to catch her. His loud, expressive reactions became a staple of the cartoon's slapstick style. Short clips of those yells later spread on soundboards and in meme edits, where Sharko's scream is now used far beyond the series as a generic cartoon panic sound.

Sharko's scream from Zig & Sharko, the loud cartoon yell of the shark protecting Marina. Creators drop it for panic, pain and over-the-top reactions.
This is Sharko letting out a short, full-force scream in his usual exaggerated cartoon style. The yell spikes fast, sounds strained and frantic rather than scary, and cuts off after about a second and a half. Because Sharko is normally the big, confident protector in Zig & Sharko, hearing him lose it completely is what makes the clip funny. Played over a calm face, a minor fail or a sudden surprise, it instantly turns a small moment into melodrama, which is why editors use it as a punchline rather than a horror effect.
