Shenzi, Banzai and Ed are the spotted hyena trio from Disney's animated film The Lion King, released in 1994. Voiced by Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin and Jim Cummings, they serve as Scar's bumbling henchmen, and their manic cackling became one of the film's signature sounds. Clips of their laugh spread early on soundboard sites and later through meme edits, where the overlapping giggles mark scheming, chaos or instant karma. It endures because the laugh is instantly recognizable even to viewers who have not seen the film in years.

The cackling laugh of Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, the hyena trio from Disney's The Lion King. A classic villain cackle used for mischief, fails and scheming memes.
This is the unmistakable cackling laugh of Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, the three hyenas from The Lion King. It is a high, yipping, overlapping chorus of giggles that rises and falls like real hyena calls filtered through cartoon mischief. Shenzi leads with a sharp cackle, Banzai piles on with a nasal snicker and Ed punctuates it with wild, tongue-lolling yelps. Played over a clip it instantly signals that something sneaky, chaotic or badly planned is happening, and it makes the viewer grin before the punchline even lands.
