The line comes from Gex, the 1995 platform game starring a wisecracking, television obsessed gecko who constantly drops pop culture references while traveling through TV themed worlds. The rocketman wording plays on the famous Elton John song Rocket Man, fitting Gex habit of turning every area into a one liner. Clips of his voice lines later circulated on soundboards and in meme edits, where short game quotes became reusable reactions. This one survived because the reference is familiar, the delivery is brief, and it works even for viewers who never played the original game.

Voice line from Gex where the wisecracking gecko says wanna be a rocketman, used as a quick meme sound for launches, jumps and space jokes online.
This short clip captures Gex delivering the line wanna be a rocketman in his smug, wisecracking style. The delivery is playful and slightly exaggerated, like a TV obsessed gecko doing a pop culture impression mid level. It lasts only a couple of seconds, but the rising enthusiasm makes it instantly readable even without context. Viewers hear it as a joke about blasting off, showing off, or diving headfirst into something ridiculous. That makes the moment feel light and nostalgic rather than dramatic, perfect for punctuating a silly launch or an overconfident entrance in a video.
