The exact recording behind this horror cat scream is not clearly documented, but dramatic cat screams have circulated for years as reaction sounds on meme soundboards, short video apps and streaming alerts. The clip gained traction because the scream sounds startlingly human, making it a go-to punchline for fake jump scares and cursed pet edits. Like the broader scream meme, it thrives in fast remix culture, and it often appears next to softer clips such as the sad meow song in compilations contrasting cute cats with horror-style audio.

A chilling two-second cat scream sound effect with a sharp feline shriek, popular in horror memes, jump scare edits and funny fail videos for a sudden shock.
This short clip captures a cat letting out a sudden, high-pitched scream that sounds almost human in its panic, starting with a sharp yowl and breaking into a raspy shriek. The recording is raw and close, so every strained breath and cracked note comes through clearly. Played over a video, it creates an instant jolt, equal parts frightening and funny, because the familiar sound of a cat is pushed into horror-movie territory. Viewers tense up at the first note, then laugh once they recognize the source, which makes it perfect for jump scares that land with comedy instead of dread.
