Hurb is a fan-made reversal of the popular bruh sound, created by playing the original reaction clip backwards and shared through meme soundboards and short-form video apps. Because bruh already worked as a universal sigh for disappointment and disbelief, flipping it gave creators a stranger, funnier variant that still carried the same meaning. It spread mainly as a reaction sound rather than through a single show or film, and it remains popular because it is instantly recognisable yet just distorted enough to surprise viewers.

The reversed bruh sound effect, pronounced hurb, is a short meme clip used for ironic reactions, failed moments and unexpected reveals in videos.
The hurb sound is the word bruh played backwards, so the familiar sigh of disappointment collapses into a strange, bubbly grunt that lasts less than a second. It keeps the low, flat tone of the original reaction but twists it just enough to sound wrong, silly and slightly cursed, which is exactly why viewers notice it. Instead of a straight punchline, it lands like a glitch in the joke, making an awkward moment feel even more awkward and a normal clip feel suddenly absurd. That off-kilter quality makes it perfect for creators who want a reaction that is recognisable without being predictable.
